I have a hard time sitting on my butt doing nothing. Maybe when I am retired, but I tend to keep myself very busy. Or at least I probably watch 20 or so new movies a year, maybe 8-10 of them I am excited about and the other half are "oh, maybe I'll like that. But there, it isn't a lot 20 a year maybe? Probably not even that many. I'll maybe catch all of the movies I think I do or will care about. It was just a long winter.Ĭlick to expand.A long time ago I came to peace with never being able to play all of the videos games or watch all of the TV shows I'll ever want to. Eventually 3D did look better, and enabled a lot of nice things like being able to easily modify costumes without re-drawing everything, or just not drawing everything by hand. But mostly it was just bad phong-shaded stuff. A lot of people realized this, so in the mean time a bunch of games did hybrid 3D backgrounds with 2D sprites, or the DKC route (pre-rendered 3D). It took 10 years to where 3D got to looking as good as 2D once did. And FF7 was a jumping on point for a lot of people so they didn't know what they were missing from Tales of Phantasia, Terranigma, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, BOF 2, the older FFs, etc. Of course the pre-rendered CG movies were very impressive at the time (now they're just embarrassing). Remember, most of the shots you can find now are of the HD upgrade of FF7 - it looked even worse originally. Even at the time I thought FF7 looked just awful compared to what we were getting on SNES or Genesis for RPGs, or even the 2D RPGs on PS/Saturn like Wild Arms or Xenogears.
